Care and Maintenance Suggestions
From PATIO PLACE and HOMECREST
To keep your Homecrest furniture looking its best for years to come, we recommend some minimal care...
GENERAL CLEANING
Periodically hose down each unit with a strong stream of water. This will help to remove dust, pollen, pollutants, pool water chemicals, or salt water. To extend the life of your fabric, we recommend cleaning the units on a regular basis (at least once or twice a year) following the instructions below.
FABRIC CARE AND MAINTENANCE
For a thorough cleaning, utilize a large plastic garbage can or container to fully immerse cushion or sling in the recommended cleaning solution. Always rinse thoroughly with clear water. Pat to remove excess water and allow to air dry. The use of a leaf blower can be used to shorten dry time. DO NOT USE home or commercial laundry machines or dryers, DO NOT dry clean, and DO NOT USE BLEACH. The application of any type of fabric treatment to a cushion is not recommended and may void the fabric warranty. Most fabrics already have a treatment applied and the use of an additional treatment may have a negative effect on the fabric.
Comfortext and Acrylics/Comfortext/Polyester Blends ~ Address stains promptly. Use a solution of 3 gallons of warm water with 2 tablespoons of a mild liquid soap. Always rinse thoroughly. Pat or shake to remove excess water, and allow to air dry.
Acrylics, Acrylic Blends, Olefins and Chenilles ~ Address stains promptly. Use a solution of 3 gallons of warm water with 2 tablespoons of a mild liquid soap. Tip unit on side and allow excess water to drain from stitched areas. Pat with hand to release excess water, and allow to air dry. Tip: Use a leaf blower to shorten drying time.
Acrylic Prints and Polyester Prints ~ Address stains promptly. Use a solution of 3 gallons of warm water with 2 tablespoons of a mild liquid soap. Always rinse thoroughly. Pat to remove excess water and allow to air dry. DO NOT USE harsh cleaners or bleach on print fabrics.
Padded Slings with Polyester Filling ~ Address stains promptly. Use a solution of 3 gallons of warm water with 2 tablespoons of a mild liquid soap. Always rinse thoroughly. Tip unit on side and allow excess water to drain from stitched areas. Pat with hand to release excess water, and allow to air dry. Tip: Use a leaf blower to shorten drying time. Caution: do not use bleach on acrylic prints.
UMBRELLAS
Hose down frequently. Wash periodically with soap or mild detergent using a sponge or soft brush. Rinse thoroughly with clear water. To retain its new look and protect from oxidation - aluminum frames: occasionally apply liquid car wax to pole; wood frames: treat with furniture paste wax every two years, or more frequently depending on exposure. Close when windy conditions are likely to occur, overnight, or if you will be away from home for a few days.
TABLE TOPS
Clean all tops regularly with a soft cloth and two tablespoons of mild liquid soap to one gallon of warm water. To clean under the vinyl rim of glass top, put a solution of warm water and liquid dishwashing soap in a spray bottle and spray around edge where rim and glass meet on both top and bottom side of glass. Let set for a few minutes; then rinse with pressure spray from hose. Tilt table slightly to drain. Clean the table rim using a soft cloth with mild laundry detergent and warm water or a non-alcohol based cleaner/protectant. Do not remove vinyl rim.
STEEL ACTION MECHANISMS
Homecrest steel action mechanisms are designed for a lifetime of use, if not abused. Periodically oil or apply a moisture displacer like WD-40 on the rivet areas, spring coils, spring ends, and around the undercarriage screw holes.
STEEL FRAMES
Wash your steel frame regularly with mild soap and water. Maintain gloss by applying a high-grade liquid automotive wax twice a year. Do not use wax on textured finishes. Reduce corrosion by avoiding damage to the paint finish. Where humidity is high, some corrosion is inevitable; catch it early. Store furniture in an upright position so water may drain from the frame properly. If placed upside down, it will not allow water to drain. This can cause freeze damage, which is not covered by the warranty.
ALUMINUM FRAMES
Aluminum frames offer exceptionally easy maintenance, but should be handled like the fine furniture it is. Wash your aluminum frame regularly with a soft cloth and a mild soap and water mixture. Maintain gloss by applying a high-grade liquid automotive wax twice a year. Do not use wax on textured finishes. Store furniture in an upright position so water may drain from the frame properly. If placed upside down, it will not allow water to drain. This can cause freeze damage, which is not covered by the warranty.
USE OF TOUCH-UP SPRAYS
If covering rust on Steel: Clean area with naval jelly or other product used to prepare steel for painting. Let set for a few minutes, then wipe clean. Repeat if necessary. Roughen surface slightly with steel wool for better adhesion. Wipe clean, shake can well and apply thin coats, allowing ample time for drying between coats.
If covering scratches on Aluminum or Steel: Rub lightly with fine steel wool to improve paint adhesion. Wipe clean. Spray as above.
